Wu Style Taijiquan 37-Posture Empty-hand Form Correction, Push Hands Training, Jian, and Yin
Style Bagua Seminar with Master Zhang Yun in Princeton NJ

Master Zhang Yun will continue to teach and correct in detail the Wu Style Taiji 37-posture empty-hand form and will explain
the application of selected postures. Push hand drills, like Four-hands (both stationary and moving routines) and Dalu, will
also be reviewed. From these push hands exercises, he will provide instruction in push hands foundation training and also in
advanced push hands and fighting skills that emphasize coordinating body integration and internal training. He will teach
methods for combining shen (spirit attention), yi (mind), and qi, and for effectively integrating these internal components with
the physical movements used in applications.

Master Zhang will continue to teach and correct some training methods of pole standing, including both still and moving
exercises to enhance your basic gongfu abilities. Step-by-step, he will guide practitioners through exercises involving skills
related to each of the internal and external components so that students understand more clearly how these skills can
become integrated and applied in work with a partner. He will also teach ways to create the timing and sensitivity necessary
to throw an opponent or partner more effortlessly.

Wu Style 32-posture Taiji Jian (straight double-edge sword) will be reviewed too. At this time, Master Zhang will focus on
whole form practicing, especially on the shen, rhythm, speed, and internal feeling etc.

The seminar will benefit beginners and advanced Wu style Taiji students as well as students of other Taiji styles. Master
Zhang's expertise will also be helpful for those who wish to use Taiji principles to improve their own martial arts practice.
Master Zhang will answer questions regarding form, push hands, and self-defense practice.

In addition, Master Zhang Yun will continue to teach Yin Style Baguazhang.  Master Zhang will teach the principles and
applications of eight palm-change postures in the Second Section.

Master Zhang Yun is a longtime indoor disciple of the Wu Style Taijiquan and Baguazhang systems under the lineage of the Late
Grandmaster Wang Peisheng. He has been practicing and teaching Chinese martial arts for over 30 years, and has conducted
seminars in China, the United States, Europe, and Australia. Master Zhang is also an author and writer who has contributed many

Lu Shengli's Internal Martial Arts Fighting Routine with Strider Clark
in Pittsburgh, PA

To celebrate the publication of Master Lu Shengli's landmark book: Combat Techniques of Taijiquan, Xingyi and Bagua  Strider
Clark
will teach Master Lu's 16 posture fighting routine in Pittsburgh.

Lu Shengli, a top indoor disciple of the late Grand Master Wang Peisheng, noticed many students of the Chinese internal martial arts do not
know how to apply the traditional forms for self-defense. To bridge the gap between form and
function, the ability to fight, Master Lu developed a 16 posture combined routine based on the most effective self-defense techniques from
Taijiquan, Xingyi, Bagua and Tongbei.  Each and every posture is designed for a straightforward response
to the most common attacks that one might encounter in a real life situation.  The form is short, tight and compact with no extraneous
movements. The routine and concepts were designed by Lu Sheng-Li with input to its development from Wang Peisheng. Strider has been
training this method for 13+ years directly from Lu Sheng-Li himself.

The routine, with applications of the postures, will be taught by Strider Clark.  Strider, an accomplished martial artist in his own right, was
given this routine and training concept from Master Lu directly. Strider is pictured in the book, photos taken
in Beijing, as the unfortunate recipient of the applications. For more information about Strider Clark's martial arts background, please check
his Baiyuan Tongbei Quan website at www.tongbei.homestead.com.

September 3, 2004
Great Master Wang Pei Sheng, head of Northern Wu Style Taiji Quan group, passed away on the morning of September 3rd, 2004 at age
85 of heart related illnesses arising from complications from an earlier stroke. The funeral was held on September 7th at 11am in Beijing.
Several hundreds or so family, friends, and students attended. Amongst them were older generation masters like Li Bing Ci and Feng Zhi
Qiang, representatives from various martial art groups and associations in Beijing, and given the short timeframe, some people from outside of
Beijing. The auditorium at Ba Bao Shan National Cemetary was not large enough to accommodate everyone at once. Most of the younger
students (second generation and later) had to wait outside initially, and come in the pay their respect in groups. The whole proceeding took
about two hours. Born in 1919, Master Wang Pei Sheng was the youngest amongst the masters of the post Qing Dynasty, pre-PRC
generation. His earliest training, at age 12, started with Ma Gui, where he inherited the Yin Style's 64 Palms and Shi Ba Jie Broadsword form.
One year later he was introduced to Yang Yu Ting, his teacher in Wu Style Tai Ji Quan. He quickly captured the attention of then zhang men
ren Wang Mao Zhai, and for years received daily personal training from Wang Mao Zhai. His reputation rose quickly because of his fighting
ability. He began assisting Yang Yu Ting in daily Taiji Quan classes at only 15. When he was 18, he started to teach his own classes and
became the youngest of all teachers in Beijing at the time. He would go on to succeeded Yang Yu Ting as the head of the Northern Wu Style
Taiji Quan group. His own time was that of a bridge between the old and the new. Amongst the other older generation masters he had
personal training or contact with were Wu Jian Quan, Bu Xue Kuan, Han Mu Xia, Li Shu Wen, etc. Master Wang was a voracious student in
a wide range of subjects both east and west, traditional and new; assimilating a knowledge from diverse fields of philosophy, science,
medicine, etc. His knowledge was at once wide and deep, both subtle and refined. Synthesizing, adopting, and creating new methods and
approaches, he dedicated his life to passing on the traditional art to the younger generations, who grew up in a radically different world from
which he was born. Master Zhang Yun, head of the American branch of Master Wang's Ying Cheng Gong Fa Association, had been in
contact with Master Wang's family in the last several days. A wreath representing condolences from all of his students here were sent. We
mourn not just his passing, but the loss of many cultural treasures he and his generation had inherited but we did not have time or the ability to
preserve. Today the core teachings survive, and we strive to preserve them and continue his work to the best of our abilities, as it is every
younger generation's duty to those that came before them and nourished them with these gifts.

Shuai Jiao or Chinese Wrestling is one of the most important part of traditional Chinese martial arts. Many Chinese martial art systems
incorporate Shuai Jiao as part of its system, as throwing has always been considered a vital component of one’s overall martial art skill. The
nature of the contest, involving two opponents of any weight and size in extremely close proximity, being able to apply full body power to
unbalance and put the other down to the ground, is thought of as extremely beneficial for understanding martial art.

International Baiyuan Tongbei Quan Assiciation ( http://www.tongbei.homestead.com) will be hosting this seminar. Shifu
Zhang Yun will
cover background knowledge, basic training methods and skills, including gongfu training, grabs relating to various parts of the uniform, solo
and partner practice, and major categories of skills like face-to-face, back-to-the-opponent type skills, large and small tripping skills, etc.
